In the budget 2025 presented by the national government ticket price is significantly increasing from July 2025.
Details: The Government of Pakistan implemented new taxes on airline tickets and therefore many people are going to be affected by this policy. This policy will be implemented from July 2025 effectively.
Federal Excise duty:
It’s the amount of tax implemented on national goods and services. The federal Excise duty for airlines will increase from 40 to 150%. Likewise the tax on economy tickets will increase significantly. An increase of 5,000 rupees to 15,000 rupees is expected on all destination flights from upcoming July. Likewise tax for America will eventually increase from 2 lakh to 4 lakh Pakistani rupees.
Countries and ticket price: For China right now the ticket price for a one way trip is around 50,000 rupees to 80,000 rupees and for round trip it’s from 1 lakh 80 thousand to 2 lakh 40 thousand. It depends on your city selection, climate changes and other factors.
But now from July 2025 economy class ticket price is expected to increase by 25 thousand to 45 thousand depending on the selection of cities. Business and first class tickets will increase from 75 thousand rupees to almost 3 lakh rupees.
For America business class tickets are expected to increase to 2 lakh 50 thousand. Almost an amount of 5%-10% increase in ticket is expected for Europe destinations. One way trip from Austria to Pakistan is 50 to 75 thousand which is expected to increase and now the new price for a round trip will be 75 to 95 thousand and in some scenarios it can be 1 lakh Pakistani rupees too.
Travel from one city to another: Ticket prices from Lahore to Karachi and from Islamabad to Karachi will also increase. The new price will most likely be from 20 thousand to 45 thousand for Islamabad to Karachi and for Lahore to Karachi ticket price can be 39 thousand to 55 thousand Pakistani rupees.
Reaction of foreign Pakistani’s and airline’s:
Foreign Pakistani’s are quite upset with the new budget of the government and according to them the new ticket prices can affect their trips and also the money they send back home. The government’s new budget faced criticism from the travel industry and from foreign Pakistani’s and also from travel operators.
Travel agency businesses will also get effect from the increase in ticket price as many people are likely to cancel their trips because of a significant increase in ticket prices. The increase in ticket price will also affect umrah pilgrims, business of tourist agencies who send locals outside the country for trips and also airlines.
Many airlines send appeals to the government for revising this policy but the government imposes taxes on airlines which will be implemented from 1 July 2025.
The new ticket prices for European countries are likely from 2 lakh 20 thousand to 3 lakh 40 thousand. Some airlines are expected to raise tickets even to 4 lakh Pakistani rupees.
