The US Warns China on the issue of Taiwan. Pete Hegseth, US defence secretary, warned China against taking Taiwan. US officials said they will strengthen their alliance with countries like Japan and Philippines to strengthen their military power.
The US issued a statement that they will support Taiwan and China is trying to seek military involvement in Taiwan which is against human rights. The US also wants its alliance to increase military support so that they can overcome China’s military power.
China on Taiwan issue:
According to China officials Taiwan is part of their territory based on different things like culture , history and also land. According to them they will get Taiwan eventually either through talks or forcefully.
History of Taiwan:
Taiwan was the first part of Japan after the first Sino-Japanese war which took place in 1895. Later on Taiwan was handed over to China in 1945.
Taiwan officials:
Taiwan officials rejected the remarks of China and according to them only people of Taiwan are allowed to decide their future and no country is allowed to force them to decide their future. Taiwan’s government also rejects one China principle proposed by the People’s Republic of China in which Taiwan is part of China and also the People’s Republic of China is the only legislative government for both China and Taiwan.
Officials of Taiwan showed concern over China’s remarks over Taiwan and they clearly said that Taiwan is a separate state and they will decide their future by their own will.
US-China conflict on Taiwan:
The US doesn’t recognise Taiwan state but they clearly support them and their interests. The US said that they will support Taiwan through military sales so that they can protect their assets but China see this as violence and also danger for their sovereignty.
The US has decided to build their own defense system to which they called Golden dome space. The Chinese government criticised this plan as according to them this plan is a risk to global stability. The increase in the Chinese military around the Taiwan region is increasing tension between the US and China as the US clearly warned China on their policies against Taiwan.
China response:
China responded to US remarks and called it baseless. China warned the US to stop playing with fire on Taiwan. Chinese officials said Taiwan is their internal matter and the US shouldn’t be involved in it as it’s creating tension and panic among citizens.
Chinese officials said that the US is using the Taiwan issue for their own benefits just to control Beijing. By responding to the increase in the military near Taiwan island, the US also increased its military presence in the Asia-Pacific region. China restricted its trade with the US to pressurise them.
China is engaging the gulf council to promote economic cooperation for economic stability. China officials said that Taiwan is part of China and the US shouldn’t get involved in internal matters of China as this can result in disruption of peace and also can create panic among people.
