According to research at the University of Nara, a medical university of Japan, artificial blood can increase the blood donor pool.

As the world is growing rapidly scientists are finding new things to help people have a better life style. In this new research Japan discovered an artificial blood group system which is an addition to the country’s advancement.
According to scientists this new discovery is an addition to Japan’s blood pool and also daily needs for blood transfusion.
New features: Let’s talk about the unique features of this artificial blood. This blood is artificial so it can be used by all blood group systems.
ABO blood group system:
Earlier ABO blood group systems were identified in which if a person has A antigen it requires an anti B body like wise people who have B antigen requires Anti A antibody. AB is a universal receiver which receives blood from every blood group. AB doesn’t have either A antibody or B antibody. O blood group is a universal donor which can donate blood to every blood group.
Artificial blood group system: Now because of this new discovery all blood groups can receive this artificial blood group. Artificial blood groups have no blood type and every person can receive this artificial blood group.
Therefore the need of testing is eliminated and it’s very effective in emergency conditions to save life as first testing was needed to make sure the patient was receiving the correct blood group. Adding on according to scientists of Japan this blood can be stored for two years at room temperature.
ABO blood group was applicable for a month or two but this artificial blood can be stored for two years. The artificial blood group is virus free and therefore according to scientists it’s very safe to use.
Nara medical university; Research information:
The research was conducted at Nara medical university and it was supervised by hirom sakai, a professor at university. The Research started in March with almost 100-400 millilitres of blood received by volunteers to check whether the blood group is effective or not.
According to scientists more research will be conducted on the blood group system to identify its effects or more and if it’s successful then it will be used by all over the people of Japan in five years. According to researches haemoglobin known as HB was extracted from patients blood and it was tested and placed in a protective shell.
This new research will save people’s lives who need blood in emergency situations.
