A large amount, almost 47% of foreign students studying at Illinois institute of technology. It is a private university in California offering courses of four years. Harvard University enrols almost 25% international students while Boston University enrols almost 30% international students.

US new Policy: The United States of America temporarily paused student visas of international students because they are planning to introduce social media vetting for applicants.

What is social media vetting????

(Ok let’s understand this )Social media vetting means analysing the character and behaviour of a student online through their presence on social media apps. This policy allows the consultant officer to view social media comments and post to find out any danger or anything wrong.

This new policy can decrease chances of students who want to study in US universities. After this policy students should be aware that their social media accounts should not be suspicious and also they have a good reputation and character online.

Most international Students have F-1 visas . A US official said this new policy is not applicable on students who already scheduled their Visa interviews and according to her this new policy is temporary for some security reasons. She said the Government wants complete screening for every individual who is entering the US.

The officials said visa interviews will resume soon and the current pause in interviews is temporary. Under the new leadership of Donald Trump, homeland security in cooperation with the US state department has ordered the withdrawal of visas for Chinese students ( connections with communist party) .

This policy is made to protect the US from unnecessary chaos and also from grouping. According to a few reports, if the pause in visas continues it can affect the US economy as a large number of international students enroll every year in US universities and it is contributing to the country’s economy and growth.

This policy can cause chaos and frustration among the students who want to take admissions in US universities.

Summary:

●The officials said this new policy is temporary

● US is planning to introduce social media vetting for applicants.

●According to few reports this decision is increasing unnecessary tension among students.
